Walking: Main Group

This is a very friendly group and we look forward to welcoming new members. All our walks are based around public transport.

We walk on the first Wednesday of the month. The walks are between 5 and 7 miles using a different leader each month.

A packed lunch is required along with a drink and something to sit on. Walking boots or shoes are recommended together with a waterproof coat.

Golden Acre Park Circular – 6 miles

Start/Finish: Golden Acre Park (Otley Road car park) 10.45

The walk goes through the park passing down by the lake and heading out towards the Rookery. We then proceed towards Lineham farm and pass by the former donkey sanctuary to Arthington Road. After crossing the road we head towards Breary Marsh, walk a tiny section of the Leeds Country Way to Pauls Pond which we will walk round. There is lots of interesting bird life on the pond at the moment. We then walk into the park where there is a lovely café for our refreshments. Some of the paths could be muddy and walking poles would be useful and there is also some road walking.

Don’t forget a picnic and sit-mat. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

Catch the X84 bus at Leeds Bus Station at 10.06 due at Golden Acre at 10.40.

Anyone wishing to car share please meet at MASSC in time to leave at 10.15.

There is a charge for parking payable at the machine.
