Walking: Main🚶‍♀️

This is a very friendly group and we look forward to welcoming new members. All our walks are based around public transport.

We walk on the first Wednesday of the month. The walks are between 5 and 7 miles using a different leader each month.

A packed lunch is required along with a drink and something to sit on. Walking boots or shoes are recommended together with a waterproof coat.

2nd July

Bramham Park Circular - 6.5 miles

Category: Easy/Moderate

Start/Finish: Bramham War Memorial at 11.00am

The walk undulates around the parkland and adjoining areas on paths lined with magnificent trees, follies, memorials and woodland. Many kissing gates, but no stiles! We will use a bridge to cross the A1M outward and inward. There are two short distances walking along Thorner Road and stepping stones over a beck.

Don’t forget a picnic and a sit-mat.

Catch the Harrogate Bus Company No. 7 Bus from Leeds Bus Station at 10.10am, due to arrive in Bramham at 10.52am.

Return bus to Leeds is 3.32pm.

OR: Meet at MASSC at 10.00am for car sharing. On-street parking is available.

6th August

Barwick-in-Elmet - Circular - 7 miles

Start/Finish: Maypole in Barwick-in-Elmet shortly after 11.00am

The walk takes us along footpaths to Thorner Lane, then southwards past Scholes, returning to Barwick along the Leeds Country Way. Most of the route is on firm all-weather paths, but a few sections could be muddy after rain.

Don’t forget a picnic and sit-mat.

Catch the 64 Bus from Vicar Lane Bus Stand P at 10.30am (or York Street Stand B at 10.32am) arriving at Barwick Gascoigne Arms at 11.03am. We will wait until the bus arrives before starting the walk. Return buses leave Barwick at 20 and 50 minutes past the hour.
