Come Along and Try Mahjong

Mahjong is a Chinese table game played with tiles and, on average, 8 to12 people play each week from a current membership of twenty. We play at the Lord Darcy pub which is on a bus route and/or has a large car park. There are no fees to pay but we do ask you to buy a drink at the bar (tea/coffee/etc) to repay their hospitality.

The game is played in groups of four that are chosen randomly at the start of sessions – so no cliques.

We are an interesting mix of individuals; some of whom have been playing for 2 or more years … but no previous experience is needed as a ‘buddy’ will teach you our version of the game as you play.

So why Mahjong?

They say that the game provides a combination of mental exercise, social connection and cultural tradition: a cognitive workout requiring strategy and pattern-recognition helping to preserve memory and attentiveness.

It’s also fun to play with a welcoming, friendly group in a lively setting.
