Walking: 7Up 🧭

Welcome to the 7 Up Walking Group which, as the name implies, provides walks of any distance over 7 miles.

The walks will be on the 4th Wednesday of every month and details of these walks will be posted on the programme here, along with the contact number of the walk leader.

All walks will be circular unless otherwise stated. Walkers should wear footwear and clothing suitable to the terrain and weather conditions. Food and drink and a sit mat are also advisable.

Walkers are reminded that they attend walks in this programme at their own risk, and that they are responsible for their own safety.

If you would like to lead a walk during the next year, or for any other information, please get in touch.

Programme 2025

31 December

5 Mile Circular Walk and Lunch at The Royalty Pub/Otley Chevin

Please note the change of start time: Our end of year walk will now start from the Royalty Pub Car Park at 10:30.

If you wish to car share, please let Sarah know and meet at MASSC, to leave at 09:45.

Although The Royalty is happy for us to park there for our pre-lunch walk, because there are 19 of us, it would be helpful if we could car share as much as possible.

Our lovely scenic walk drops down from the Chevin almost to Guiseley on footpaths and tracks, returning through farmland and a wood on to the Chevin.

We will then have lunch at 14:30 at The Royalty. Everyone is looking forward to getting together to end 2025 in style!

Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate to the weather of the day.

Programme 2026

28 January

7 Mile Circular Walk from Ripley

The walk starts from the village cross in Ripley at 10:30.  Please arrive at MASSC for car sharing, in time to leave at 09:45.

The 36 Bus goes to the village centre or there is a car park, which now has parking charges.

We leave the village, following the Nidderdale Way along Hollybank Lane. This path passes though the famous bluebell woods, although there will be no bluebells in January!

We continue on this route to Clint. Here, there is an ancient stone cross and stocks.

At the next junction, we take to the fields to West House Farm and descend into Birstwith.

We then follow the river back to Hapsthwaite, where we recross the river.

Next, there is a short stretch of road walking and onto a footpath, which will return us to Hollybank Wood. We then return through the wood to Ripley.

Please bring refreshments, a sit mat and walking wear appropriate to the weather on the day.  It would be helpful if you would let us know if you are going to MASSC for car share or on the bus.
